What is the current cost for a 55 minute session?
The current fee for a 55 minute counselling session is $190. This fee is based off of the recommendations by the Psychologists Association of Alberta (PAA) for a registered psychologist (see here). Fees may increase due to changes in operational costs, for GST adjustments, and fee changes recommended by regulatory bodies. Clients will be notified of any changes well in advance.
Is there sliding scale available?
I believe counselling should be accessible and make my regular rate lower than the recommended rate as noted above. I do have a limited amount of sliding scale spots set per month as I understand that not everyone has means and finances to afford counselling. Please contact me directly via email at brittany@luminscendcc.com to inquire further about this.
Do you direct bill?
Yes, I do direct bill to certain providers. I can direct bill to the following insurance companies found on this link and can bill directly to Alberta Blue Cross, Victim Services, and Green shield. If you do not see your provider, feel free to email me to discuss further what can be done at brittany@luminscendcc.com
What type of payments do you currently accept?
Payments currently accepted when booking directly online is e-transfers or credit card through the booking app at this time. If these are not suitable for you, please contact me directly to figure out how I can best support you. Once payment is received, a detailed receipt/invoice will be emailed to you, which can then be submitted to your insurance company.
Will my insurance cover my counselling?
As outlined by the CCPA (which can be read here: https://www.ccpa-accp.ca/faq/) some insurance companies do cover counselling services that are provided by professionals that hold a psychologist registration, however coverage is not consistent across insurance companies. Depending on the plan, coverage may be possible with companies like Pacific Blue Cross, Equitable Life, Greenshield, and Sun Life. I would recommend contacting your insurance company directly to determine what your coverage may look like.
What do I need for online counselling?
For online counselling, we will be connecting through a secure video conferencing service. For this, you will need access to a reliable wifi network (make sure it’s secure as well!) and a device that supports microphone and webcam functions. It is also recommended that you have a private, comfortable space or head phones.
Can I book, reschedule, and cancel appointments on my own?
Yes, this can all be done through the service provider I use found here: https://luminscend.janeapp.com/
What is your cancellation policy?
For scheduled appointments, 12 hours notice is required as it allows me to better plan my day and allows me to schedule in last minute appointments that may be needed for emergency. A first late cancellation will have no penalty, but any late cancellations after will result in a $50 fee as this time has been set aside for you.
What should I expect during our consultation?
Consultations are all about you. It’s a chance for us to figure out what is it you are looking for and whether or not I am the right fit for your needs. Every counsellor practices differently so it is essential that you feel we are a good match. During this time I encourage you to ask any questions and I will use the time to also talk about what I can do and how I practice based on what you share to me.
