Why Luminscend?
Let’s be real. Thinking of a name for a private practice is actually pretty hard. I spent a lot of time mulling over name ideas and looking up synonyms for various words. And then the word “lumen” kept coming to mind.
Lumen

- lumen is a unit of measurement for the brightness of light.
- Lumen is related to the word luminous, which means “bright” or “radiant.”

- the push or surge created by a wave.
As I began to play around with the word lumin, Luminscend was eventually born. A wave of light. Something about this name just called for me. Our journey through life and through mental health is very much like a wave. Sometimes life comes crashing in and taking out all that is in it path & sometimes it is just a gentle roll, kissing the shores. But like many things in life, waves change due to gravity, so there is always opportunity there for something different. There is always an opportunity to find your light again. That thing that gets you out of bed every day. That something that makes you feel maybe proud of yourself, or experience feelings like joy and contentment.
It may sound kind of cheesy, but it brings me a sense of comfort & I hope through our work together, you too can experience a sense of comfort and safety.
